Comment:

After graduating from high school, I attended Concord College (University)

receiving a BS in Education with fields in French and English.  I then

completed my masters degree at the University of Tennessee.  I returned

to PHS in 1965 and taught there for 40 ½ years.  One of the highlights of

my career was taking students numerous times to Europe, Canada and

New Orleans.  I was named to the PHS Academic Hall of Fame in 2005

and retired in 2006.

A major part of my life had been centered around my activities at the

First United Methodist Church – singing in the choir, playing handbells,

serving on the church council and leading worship.

Every morning I must work four puzzles in the newspaper before

beginning my day.  I also enjoy reading and playing the piano for my

own enjoyment.  I have remained loyal to Elvis all these years.

Marital status: Married
Children: 2
Occupation: retired Salvation Army missionary
Comment: A begun turn is half-done.

I was at PHS through the 11th grade, but moved to and graduated from Pulaski, VA. In 1959.  With my wife (Evelyn) served 33 years in Latin America as Salvation Army missionaries {and another 12 years - before and after – in GA, WV, FL and NC}.  In retirement I read, translate (Spanish and Portuguese) do fill-in pasturing and ring the bells at Christmas.
